Anthony Vassallo

Head coachU16 Girls

I played professionally in Europe and for Malta, and the coaches I remember told me the truth and then helped me handle it. That is my promise to every player: high standards, an honest plan built week by week, and someone in your corner while you chase it.

What we work on at U16

  • MentalLeadership and resilience

Lead teammates, communicate on the field and stay composed when games turn.

  • PhysicalPower and repeat speed

Build the engine to sprint, recover and sprint again for the full 90 minutes.

  • TechnicalExecution under pressure

Make the right technique work at game speed, against bigger, faster opponents.

  • TacticalGame management

Adapt to the opponent, manage the score and change shape when the game asks.

The season

May to October, with a two-week mid-season break and a four-week recovery break at the end of the year.

Conference: Western Conference (U16 Girls West)

Halfway reseeding: The season starts with conference play in the West from May to July. At the mid-season break the tables reset: the top five from the West and the top five from the East form the 10-team Premier conference, and every other team plays in Trillium from August to early October. Points start again from zero. Premier decides the OPDL champion; its top teams go to playoffs and the Gary Miller Charity Shield final, while Trillium crowns its own winner. The top two Premier teams also earn Ontario's places at the next year's Canada Soccer PDP Championship.
