Mher Nahabedian
Great players are built in the moments nobody films, the thousandth touch on a cold Tuesday night, and I get to see that journey from a player's first session to their first big game. Fundamentals are freedom: master the basics until they stop being basic, then go play.

Meet Mher Nahabedian
Skill Centre and Grassroots Manager
Mher holds a Canada Soccer National B Licence and coached in Montreal before joining Whitecaps London, where he has coached in the OPDL program for several seasons.
As Skill Centre Director and Grassroots Manager he shapes how the club's youngest players learn the game, building the fundamentals that feed every OPDL team, and he leads the 2013 and 2012 OPDL girls.

Year-round, on a 44-week plan. OPDL sets 4.5 to 6 hours of training a week, not counting games. Our 2026-27 winter schedule has each OPDL group on 3 to 4 sessions a week, 60 to 90 minutes each, at BMO Centre and school gyms, with separate goalkeeper sessions.
What we work on at U14
- Focus and ownership
Own preparation, stay locked in for the full game and handle setbacks well.
- Strength through growth
Growth is tracked; strength and landing work protects knees and builds speed.
- Technique at speed
Receive on the half turn and pass cleanly when the full 11v11 game closes down.
- Roles in the shape
Learn each position's job: when to press, when to drop, how to defend as a unit.
The season
May to October, with a two-week mid-season break and a four-week recovery break at the end of the year.
Conference: Western Conference (U14 Girls West)
Halfway reseeding: The season starts with conference play in the West from May to July. At the mid-season break the tables reset: the top five from the West and the top five from the East form the 10-team Premier conference, and every other team plays in Trillium from August to early October. Points start again from zero. Premier decides the OPDL champion; its top teams go to playoffs and the Gary Miller Charity Shield final, while Trillium crowns its own winner. The top two Premier teams also earn Ontario's places at the next year's Canada Soccer PDP Championship.

David Rojas
I want my teams to play with personality: brave on the ball, hungry without it, and clear on their job. I push every player a little further than they think they can go, and I make sure they enjoy the work that gets them there.
