Head coachU15 Girls

Great players are built in the moments nobody films, the thousandth touch on a cold Tuesday night, and I get to see that journey from a player's first session to their first big game. Fundamentals are freedom: master the basics until they stop being basic, then go play.

Meet Mher Nahabedian

Skill Centre and Grassroots Manager

Mher holds a Canada Soccer National B Licence and coached in Montreal before joining Whitecaps London, where he has coached in the OPDL program for several seasons.

As Skill Centre Director and Grassroots Manager he shapes how the club's youngest players learn the game, building the fundamentals that feed every OPDL team, and he leads the 2013 and 2012 OPDL girls.

What we work on at U15

  • MentalCompetitive habits

Train like it matters, compete for a spot and respond to pressure with intent.

  • PhysicalStrength and injury prevention

Strength, landing and change of direction work that keeps players on the field.

  • TechnicalPosition technique

Sharpen the techniques each position needs: crossing, finishing, passing range.

  • TacticalTeam principles

Pressing triggers, building out from the back and transitions in both directions.

The season

May to October, with a two-week mid-season break and a four-week recovery break at the end of the year.

Conference: Western Conference (U15 Girls West)

Halfway reseeding: The season starts with conference play in the West from May to July. At the mid-season break the tables reset: the top five from the West and the top five from the East form the 10-team Premier conference, and every other team plays in Trillium from August to early October. Points start again from zero. Premier decides the OPDL champion; its top teams go to playoffs and the Gary Miller Charity Shield final, while Trillium crowns its own winner.
