David Rojas
I want my teams to play with personality: brave on the ball, hungry without it, and clear on their job. I push every player a little further than they think they can go, and I make sure they enjoy the work that gets them there.

Year-round, on a 44-week plan. OPDL sets 4.5 to 6 hours of training a week, not counting games. Our 2026-27 winter schedule has each OPDL group on 3 to 4 sessions a week, 60 to 90 minutes each, at BMO Centre and school gyms, with separate goalkeeper sessions.
What we work on at U13
- Love of the challenge
Enjoy hard work, try new things without fear and bounce back fast from mistakes.
- Agility and coordination
Balance, speed of feet and change of direction, built through games with the ball.
- Mastery of the ball
Both feet, first touch, 1v1 moves and passing that holds up under pressure.
- Reading the game
Scan before receiving, find space and choose the right option in 9v9.
The season
May to October. U13 is the bridge year: 9v9, no published scores or standings, and the whole 24-player pool trains to OPDL standards while game days are shared across OPDL and other club teams.
Conference: Western Conference (U13 West)
Halfway reseeding: No reseeding at U13. Teams play East or West all season and the focus stays on development, not the table.

Garrincha
Most young players look at the ball. The best ones look up first, so every session I run forces that habit: read the cues, decide early, and take a first touch that already knows where it is going. When a player solves a problem on match day without looking to the bench, that is the work paying off.
