Kimee Liu

Kimee Liu's Whitecaps London journey led through OPDL, Oakland University honours and a 2026 move to the University of Toronto. A London story to celebrate.

Kimee Liu gives Whitecaps London a journey to celebrate: from our London teams to a Horizon League All-Freshman honour at Oakland University and a new chapter with the University of Toronto. We are proud to see a player who came through Whitecaps London earn places in two university programs and keep taking her game forward.

Her club record reaches back further than the university headlines. A 2019 Vancouver Whitecaps academy centre announcement identified Kimee as a London player with the U13 OPDL girls team. It said she had joined in the fall of 2018 and had also played with the U14 group. Those dates give this story a real beginning. They show a young player already involved in the club's development pathway years before any university roster carried her name.

The next public record shows how that work translated into an opportunity. When Oakland announced its incoming players in November 2023, it listed Kimee's previous club as Whitecaps London. The university reported 17 goals in 21 games and named her the 2023 winter FTF Toronto girls combine MVP and a 2023 FTF Montreal combine All-Star. Those are specific honours attached to the step from London into college soccer. They are stronger than a general claim that she had promise: they show what the receiving university had seen in her playing record.

At Oakland, Kimee moved from an incoming recruit to an award winner. The university's 2024 announcement placed her on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team. It recorded 15 appearances, 12 starts and 834 minutes that season, with a goal and an assist against Purdue Fort Wayne. A new level asks a player to earn minutes, find a role and contribute in matches. These published numbers show she did each of those things during her first year. The honour came from the league, while Oakland's announcement gives the match record behind it.

The University of Toronto then announced her for its 2026 women's soccer team. Toronto described a midfielder from London who had played two seasons at Oakland. Its profile totals those two NCAA seasons at 37 matches, three goals and one assist. It also lists her as a third-year player in social science. That is the latest official university team record we have, so this profile treats Toronto as the current university chapter. It does not turn the roster into an unsupported claim about a future result.

Toronto's profile adds more to the path between teams. It credits Kimee with an OPDL top-scorer finish in 2023, a 2024 senior cup title, and 10 goals in 11 summer matches at the time its 2026 bio was written. Those numbers belong to separate competitions and dates. They are not a single career total. Together, they show that her journey included youth development, senior competition and university soccer, with each stage recorded by a named organization.

For a family in London, Kimee's story is close enough to recognise. A club player named in a 2019 development notice later appeared on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team and then a University of Toronto roster. Whitecaps London is proud to be part of that journey. The children playing in London now can look from her U13 OPDL start to those university honours and dream about their own next stage. We hope they keep working for the chance to write a story that is theirs.
