Sadie Waite

Sadie Waite is a professional midfielder with Ottawa Rapid FC, and Whitecaps London is proud to count her among its former players. Her route from the London area to a Canadian national youth team, four seasons of university soccer and a professional contract gives today's club players a real journey to look up to. ¹²³

A London-area starting point

Sadie grew up in St. Thomas, near London. Ontario Soccer's 2018 under-14 provincial team roster names her club as London Youth Whitecaps, the name used for Whitecaps London on that record. She represented the provincial team while affiliated with our club. It was an early honour in a journey that would later take her to university soccer and a Canada youth squad. ¹²⁴

The provincial team brought together players from across Ontario. For families in London, Sadie's place on that roster is a point of pride: a local Whitecaps London player stood among them. The honour came years before her professional contract, showing how much of her story unfolded between that early selection and the destination we celebrate today. ³⁴

Nebraska and Canada

Sadie joined the University of Nebraska women's soccer team. As a freshman in 2022, she played in 19 games and started 16. In 2023 she started all 24 games, scored four goals and supplied five assists. She scored twice in Nebraska's first-round NCAA tournament win, and the team reached the Elite Eight while winning the Big Ten regular-season title. Those are team and individual results recorded in Nebraska's own player biography. ²

Canada's under-20 World Cup team selected Sadie in 2024. Nebraska lists that selection among her honours and records 11 university starts after she returned from the tournament. The international step sits beside, rather than replaces, her university work. Her Nebraska record also lists Academic All-Big Ten recognition for 2023, 2024 and 2025. ²

In her final Nebraska season in 2025, Sadie started every game. She finished with a goal and four assists, and played 1,542 minutes. The numbers show sustained involvement over a full season, not just one memorable tournament moment. From a Whitecaps London name on a provincial roster to a regular place in a major university team, her record grew across several years. ²

A professional chapter at home

Ottawa Rapid FC signed Sadie to a two-year professional deal ahead of the 2026 Northern Super League season. The club lists her as a midfielder and calls her its first roster signing for that season. This is the verified destination at the end of the journey so far: a Canadian professional club after Ontario selection, Canada youth representation and university soccer in Nebraska. ³

The next London player will have a path of their own. Sadie has given our club a reason to celebrate each of hers: the Ontario team, Nebraska, Canada under-20 and now Ottawa Rapid FC. For the kids wearing Whitecaps London colours today, she is proof that one of our own can reach a big stage. We are proud of the player she has become and excited to follow her professional chapter. ²³⁴
