David Cubillos

David Cubillos went from Whitecaps London and an Ontario provincial team to 47 college matches at St. Bonaventure. A London journey we are proud to share.

David Cubillos is part of a Whitecaps London story we are proud to tell: a defender from London whose path reached an Ontario provincial team and St. Bonaventure University. His first recorded club milestone here was a close Ontario Cup final, and his university chapter later stretched across four seasons. We are proud to follow that whole arc.

One of those records is unusually clear about the start. Ontario Soccer's report on the 2016 U14 boys Ontario Cup final names the London Youth Whitecaps and describes David's part in the match. His free kick struck the crossbar before a teammate scored the equaliser. The same report says he repeatedly stopped attacks at the other end. The final went to penalties, and the London side lost. The result matters because it is honest history: a close provincial final, a documented contribution on both sides of the ball, and a young Whitecaps player already facing a demanding match.

Two years later, the 2018 Ontario boys U16 provincial roster listed David Cubillos of London with London Youth Whitecaps as his club. This was a separate achievement from the cup final: selection into a provincial group, with his Whitecaps London connection still visible on the team list. A player who had been part of a hard-fought final was now named among Ontario's provincial players.

St. Bonaventure's official athletics bio shows the next chapter in detail. David joined the Bonnies as a defender and started eight games in his first season, 2020-21. In 2021 he appeared in 13 games and started 10, with 870 minutes recorded. In 2022 he played all 16 contests, made 13 starts and logged 1,179 minutes. That season he also scored his first college goal in an October match at Duquesne.

The same bio says David finished his Bonnies career in 2023 with 47 games, 32 starts and one goal. It also lists him on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in his first three college seasons. We are glad to include those honours because the university names them, and because the academic side belongs in a story about a player who took soccer into university. His profile lists health science as his major. It does not establish where he plays now, so this story ends its competitive timeline with the last official record rather than assigning him a present team.

For London families, David's journey has a useful shape. The 2016 final did not end with a trophy for his side. The later provincial selection and 47-match college record still followed. A single result did not define the whole path. Whitecaps London is proud to be part of the early record, and proud of what David went on to do at St. Bonaventure. A child facing a tough result today can look at that sequence, keep working and still dream about the opportunities ahead.
