What We Look For in Our Coaches
At Whitecaps London, every coach is selected because they align with our player-first development model. Each program level has different demands, and our staff is chosen specifically for the strengths required at that stage of the pathway.
OPDL Coaches
Experience within high-performance or elite youth environments
Strong technical and tactical understanding aligned with OPDL standards
Ability to prepare players for collegiate, League1 and higher levels
Excellent communication with players and families
Commitment to long-term development over short-term results
I-Model Coaches
Ability to coach competitive players in a development-focused environment
Strong teaching of fundamentals, decision-making and positional play
Skill in bridging the gap between youth competition and OPDL readiness
Clear, supportive feedback that helps players grow
Focus on preparing players for the next step while keeping the game enjoyable
Grassroots Coaches (U4–U12)
Passion for working with young players and fostering a love of soccer
Ability to create fun, safe and engaging training environments
Strong teaching of core skills: dribbling, turning, passing, receiving
Patience, empathy and consistent communication with parents
Commitment to helping players build confidence through positive experiences
