Emergency First Aid Education

Whitecaps London ensures all coaches complete certified First Aid and CPR+AED training through the Canadian Red Cross, maintaining a fully qualified and safety-ready coaching team.

Whitecaps London provides First Aid and CPR+AED education to all coaches beginning in Fall 2017. The club maintains records of all certified coaches to ensure safety standards are consistently met. The certification program, delivered through the Canadian Red Cross, includes Emergency First Aid and CPR training at Level A or C.

The CPR A course requires either 6.5 hours of in-class instruction or a blended option of 3.5 hours in class and 4 hours of online learning. The CPR C course requires 7.5 hours in class or 4.5 hours in class and 4 hours online. There are no prerequisites for enrollment. Successful completion requires demonstrating all practical skills and critical steps, achieving a minimum score of 75% on the written exam, and attending 100% of the course. Certification is valid for three years.

Recertification for CPR A involves 4 hours in class or 3 hours in class plus 4 hours online. CPR C recertification requires 5 hours in class or 4 hours in class plus 4 hours online. Course content covers the Red Cross framework, the EMS system, emergency preparedness, recognizing and responding to airway, breathing, and circulation emergencies, cardiac arrest, and wound care. It also includes any additional content required by legislation. Participants receive a First Aid and CPR manual, an eBook guide, and access to online materials via a personal PIN, along with a certification upon completion.
