Whitecaps London ensures all coaches are First Aid trained and prepared to act quickly in emergencies, following our detailed Emergency Action Plan to protect every player’s safety.
All Whitecaps London coaches, managers, and trainers are required to complete Emergency First Aid training. Each team must maintain an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and ensure all officials understand how to activate it.
In any emergency, call 911 first. The EAP should be activated when a player has no pulse, is not breathing, is bleeding profusely, has impaired consciousness, sustains an injury to the head, neck, or back, experiences major trauma to a limb, cannot move or feel their limbs, or when the team official believes activation is necessary. When activating the EAP, the team official must take control of the situation, assess the injuries, call 911 or assign someone to do so, and provide clear information about the injury. Another person should be directed to meet paramedics and guide them to the injured player. First aid should be provided to stabilize the player until help arrives.
Once the player is stabilized, the team official should have the player’s medical form ready for paramedics, notify the parents if they are not present, and take detailed notes of the incident, including the player’s name, injuries, hospital name, time, location, and any witnesses or referees involved. The incident must then be recorded with Whitecaps London.
Each player must have a completed Emergency Medical Form on file. These forms must be stored in the team’s EAP binder, and each player’s assigned letter from the index page should be printed in the top right corner of their form. This ensures the information is easily accessible to coaches, trainers, and medical staff in the event of an emergency.
