Whitecaps London’s Code of Conduct outlines clear standards for coaches, players, and parents—promoting respect, fairness, and professionalism on and off the field.
Whitecaps London Code of Conduct
Whitecaps London expects all coaches, players, parents, and officials to uphold the highest standards of conduct, integrity, and respect in every aspect of participation. The goal of this policy is to ensure that all members of our community contribute to a positive, safe, and professional environment that reflects the values of the club and the game.
Coach Code of Conduct
Coaches are expected to treat players, parents, referees, team officials, and club staff with fairness, respect, and professionalism at all times. Coaches will not discriminate based on religion, race, ethnicity, gender, or any other protected characteristic. They must work to develop every player under their guidance and lead by example in promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline.
Coaches must refrain from using vulgar or profane language and are expected to arrive on time, fully prepared for all practices and games. They must ensure that all facilities and equipment are safe and appropriate for the players’ age and ability levels. Coaches are prohibited from participating in any club activity while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and are not permitted to smoke during practices or games. Proper club attire must be worn for all official events.
Coaches are responsible for the payment of any fines imposed on the club as a result of their actions and are required to adhere to the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) Code of Conduct, participating only in OSA-sanctioned events.
Enforcement: Alleged violations of the Coach Code of Conduct must be submitted in writing to the club. The coach will be notified in writing, and the club will determine whether the allegation is substantiated. Penalties may range from a written warning to dismissal, depending on the severity and frequency of the offense.
Player Code of Conduct
Players must treat teammates, coaches, referees, parents, and club officials with fairness, politeness, and respect. Discrimination of any kind is strictly prohibited. Players must arrive on time, prepared, and ready to contribute to all practices and games. The use of profanity, drugs, alcohol, or smoking at any team or club activity is strictly forbidden.
Players are expected to wear approved club apparel during all official events and to represent the club with pride and professionalism. They are responsible for any fines imposed on the club resulting from their misconduct and must comply with the OSA Code of Conduct and participate only in sanctioned events.
Enforcement: Any alleged breach of the Player Code of Conduct must be reported to the club by the team or squad head coach. The player will be notified in writing, and the club will review the allegation. Sanctions may include a warning, suspension, or dismissal, depending on the circumstances and prior history.
Parent Code of Conduct
Parents and guardians play a vital role in fostering a positive club culture. They must treat all players, referees, coaches, officials, and other parents with respect and courtesy. Negative, profane, or abusive language will not be tolerated. Parents are expected to encourage and support players constructively and to maintain composure at all games and practices.
Parents must never attend any club event under the influence of drugs or alcohol and may not smoke at games or training sessions. They are responsible for any fines issued to the club as a result of their behavior.
Enforcement: Alleged violations of the Parent Code of Conduct must be reported to the club by the team or squad head coach. The parent will be informed in writing, and the club will review the case. Consequences may range from a written warning to suspension or removal from club activities.
