Soccer in Schools Program
Removing Barriers. Building Belonging. Growing the Game.
Whitecaps London is proud to enter Year Two of the Soccer in Schools Program, delivered in partnership with Canada Soccer. Our club was honoured to be part of the original national pilot, helping shape an initiative designed to introduce more children to soccer in a fun, inclusive, and accessible way.
This year, the program continues to expand, with six local schools participating across our community. At the club level, the initiative is led by Coach Mher Nahabedian, whose passion for grassroots development and commitment to inclusion are helping bring high-quality soccer experiences directly into school environments.
Canada Soccer’s Soccer in Schools Program connects local clubs with public schools to deliver soccer during recess and physical education using free, video-based curricula, age-appropriate student playbooks (Kindergarten to Grade 8), and training resources for educators and coaches. Grounded in Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) principles, the program supports new Canadians, reduces financial barriers, and creates more equitable access to sport for children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.
Supported through the Community Sport for All initiative and funded by the Government of Canada, the program launched in Ontario and Saskatchewan in 2024 and continues to grow nationwide. We are excited to build on this momentum and see the lasting impact it will have on students, schools, and our broader community.
Recreational Soccer
Play. Belong. Have Fun.
At Whitecaps London, we believe soccer should be for everyone. Alongside our competitive and high-performance pathways, we proudly offer a recreational soccer option for players who want to stay active, make friends, and enjoy the game in a positive, low-pressure environment.
Our recreational programming spans U4 to U18, including Future Caps (U4–U7), Grassroots (U8–U13), and Youth Recreational (U14–U18). These programs are ideal for beginners, multi-sport athletes, or players who want to play once or twice a week without the demands of elite competition.
Volunteer coaches are the heart of our House League and Recreational programs. Their involvement helps keep soccer community-driven, welcoming, and affordable, while creating a fun atmosphere where kids can develop skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of the game.

Shine the Light All-Girls Soccer Tournament
A Strong Tournament… with a Strong Message
Whitecaps London proudly hosts the Shine the Light All-Girls Soccer Tournament, a premier youth event dedicated to supporting the London Abused Women’s Centre (LAWC) and raising awareness around human trafficking and violence against women.
Guided by the motto “A Strong Tournament… with a Strong Message,” this event empowers young female athletes while creating meaningful, community-wide impact.
The 2025 tournament will take place June 6–8, 2025, at North London Soccer Fields and Windermere Soccer Fields, welcoming more than 800 female players from across Ontario in U13–U18 divisions. Since its launch in 2021, the tournament has raised nearly $20,000 for LAWC through registration fees, merchandise sales, and donations, directly supporting the Shine the Light on Woman Abuse campaign.
Beyond competition, the tournament emphasizes education and visibility. LAWC representatives engage with players, families, and coaches to encourage conversations about healthy relationships and recognizing early signs of abuse. Every participant receives a pink or purple whistle, symbolizing the commitment to “blow the whistle” when harm is happening. Teams also donate essential care items, while the tournament’s signature purple theme transforms the fields into a powerful show of solidarity for survivors across our community.
Registration for the 2025 Shine the Light All-Girls Soccer Tournament is now open.
Teams from across Ontario are invited to join us for a weekend of high-level soccer, shared purpose, and lasting impact.
By participating, teams are not only competing in a premier all-girls tournament — they are helping amplify a message of empowerment, safety, and advocacy for women and girls in our community.
